  • WHY WE CREATE MUSIC

    A film by Already Alive

“Why We Create Music” tells the story of the absolute importance of music with the individuals who create it. Fifteen musicians, ranging from Bill Withers to Aloe Blacc to Lady Antebellum, sit down with the director, Michael Marantz, to discuss their labor of love, songwriting and composing. Each featured artist was asked to contribute a musical or lyrical element to a base song that Marantz composed, ultimately generating the collaborative soundtrack that plays over video footage of them in the process of writing it.

  • GLAZ

“The story of Vladimir Kurashov, a young photographer from Moscow.

In 2003 his left eye was seriously injured in a street fight. After multiple surgeries, the young man’s normal vision still did not return. A few years later, in the summer of 2012, the Moscow based gallery “Glaz” presented the photographer’s first public exhibition ‘Poetics of the locality’.”

“Meet Jack English, a 93-year-old legend who lives in a cabin isolated deep in the Ventana Wilderness.

While on a hunting trip he learned that an old homestead in the Ventana Wilderness was being put up for auction by the estate of a childless heiress. He put a bid on the property and won. On the land he built a small cabin using materials from the land and milling trees by hand. When his wife passed away, Jack effectively left “society” and moved to the cabin full time.”

  • CHI RAQ

A film by London-born photographer/filmmaker Will Robson- Scott for Protein

“The first in a series of exclusive commissions for Protein TV, Chi Raq is an intimate video portrait of life in South and West Chicago.

For the past decade, Chicago has been enduring a violence epidemic, with a death toll in the thousands and casualties mirroring the losses experienced by the US army in Iraq war over the same period. Allowing its subjects to take centre stage and tell their stories in their own words, Robson-Scottʼs film is unflinchingly honest in its depiction of life on the streets of one of the most dangerous cities in America.

The full film will be released on Protein TV on 13th August 2013.”

  • 100DAYS X 100SECONDS

    A film by Debeka

“The day I bought my camera, i decided to film one second every day during the next 100 days of my life…

The past 100 days have been amazing. You learn to open your eyes & it motivates you to do something memorable every day or at least to try to do so. When i look at this clip it takes me back to every single day of that project.

It’s a kickstarter of awesome memories.”
